The study is aimed at looking into the development phase of Korean recreation culture relating to cultural life with the change of times. and the changing process of recreation culture of those days, reconfirming historical value, educational value and racial value which recreation culture has, and getting reappraisal increasingly vanishing emotional, social humanization with rapid development industrial civilization through Korean folk culture, studying our Korean traditional cultural emotion and time-honored history of folk culture. Culture has been a controversial issue based on different theories. Based on culture defined by Huizinga or Caillois, man has placed significance of existence on ideas, habits, customs, functions and arts. Recreation has developed as part of such culture. Some one says recreation has developed earlier than culture. This may mean recreation must be included in human living culture as a form, emphasizing significance of recreation and the development phase of evolution. Children`s recreation is also the first behavior pattern that they are developing as ideal man and necessary means making basic human living patterns such as originally, sociality, self realization. Human beings has been accompanied by recreation in any situation of any age. Especially our people`s own traditional culture gives understandings of the origin of racial traits and racial spirit and serves as a foundation of new creative culture. Accordingly developing recreation culture through the succession and development of racial culture property, and associating it with modem recreation culture. We will have to continue discussing the concrete ways to hand down recreation culture, our peoples own traditional culture property on our descendant who will live in the Millennium.
