This study focuses on the military uniform of King Yeongchin in the Korean(Daehan) Empire and Japan, which had massive materials but have not been addressed extensively in preceding studies. As for the research method, this study compared and analyzed pictures and artifacts based on the Official Gazette that provided military uniforms in the two countries. King Yeongchin was commissioned Chamwi of the Daehan Empire Army in 1907 and, in the same year, settled in Japan for political reasons and lived as a soldier until Japan was completely defeated in 1945. The military uniforms in the Daehan Empire were the basis for modern uniforms, and they underwent four major detailed revisions since they were established in 1895. Moreover, in Japan, the military uniforms were established in 1870 with the Meiji Restoration, and they continuously changed, undergoing four major detailed revisions. In addition, King Yeongchin"s military uniform contained the national emblem of the taegeuk and oyat, the rising sun and cherry blossom. The modern military uniform are a reflection of him and his life as a soldier in the two countries as a victim of politics and the chaotic situation of the times.
