A study on the documents of inscription has a history of more than 1,000 years, and there is a great deal of achievement accumulated between them. In the past, researches were generally performed by comparing the contents of The Han Dynasty inscriptions with the historical records and correcting the errors of the historical records or documents of inscription. Generally, it was mainly the supplementary work to supplement the blank or error of the historical records by using the documents of inscription. It is clear that Chinese historical records were written precisely by historians, but they are often incompatible with facts because they are completed in decades or centuries. Compared to the librarian`s records, however, they are generally reliable because they are completed at a time not far from the event. Conversely, documents of inscription are highly likely to be worn or destroyed in certain circumstances, which can be supplemented by librarian"s records. These researches are mainly focused on the collection of the Han Dynasty(漢) inscriptions and the study of inscription texts, and the comparative study of the librarian`s records and stone sculpture data will be continue.
The study using documents of inscription is of great value in the sense of culture form which is an indicator in East Asian civilization rights. In other words, the study of inscription has an important meaning in comprehensively understanding the reality of ancient East Asia. This research has been going on for over a thousand years, and has realized its value in each age. Currently, it is still an important task to realize the value of the era in inscription research. documents of inscription have different forms and meanings depending on the each period, the nature of the society, so the documents of inscription can be used as mirrors to realize the past. From this point of view, documents of inscription can be a fascinating object of study that can lead to various themes such as institutional, social and cultural exchange.
