The window performance was studied for building energy saving. It is easy to predict performance when a part of the wall is composed of glazing. On the other hand, it is difficult to predict the performance when the wall has a complex shape with various components or a driving part according to the user’s control. But the solar heat gain at the window was problem to building cooling load. So researchers need to the control technology in external envelope. As the performance of building envelope and the introduction of window, shade, and IT technology for various purposes have been introduced, it is required to verify the reliability of complex shapes such as smart skins. There is a possibility that the performance measurement method may not be suitable because there are differences in the items and levels of required performance depending on various forms and installation purpose of the mat skin. Smart skins can be classified into insulation performance, airtightness performance, and solar radiation performance as required for indoor cooling and heating loads as applied to a building envelope. In addition, strength and durability of external impacts can cause problems in terms of wind pressure performance and watertightness. In addition, there is a need for an item that can become a problem of the indoor environment such as the condensation prevention performance as the reliability information of the building material. Smart skin has high performance about thermal insulation, air-tightness, safety and etc. In this study, authors proposed the test methods for smart skin through Korea standard of test methods. That standards need to modification of methods and specimen size.
