The international economic integration process has created many opportunities for economic development, turning Vietnam from an inactive and ineffective economy into a dynamic component of the world economy. However, the global economic environment is now experiencing many fluctuations and this has remarkably affected the economic development of each nation. This research paper generalizes the economic development of Vietnam, analyses the country"s competitiveness using the global competitiveness indexes, then proposes some solutions to raise the national competitiveness to contribute to Vietnam"s economic development amid the present global business environment.
