I would explain the principle of predication as ‘revealing and showing’ in this paper. I would like to liken predication to ‘untying the knot’, created in form of thinking or experience, in regular sequence. Here the term ‘knot’ has double meanings: One refers to the fact or situation in which someone goes through, and the other does the linguistic structure that can be applied to them. The object of prediction ranges from what we have seen and heard, to what we have felt and thought, and to most things recorded, such as myth, history, literature, verse and prose, explanation, rhetorical writing, article and essay. Take an example. The sentence “나무가 꽃을 활짝 피웠다(The tree was in full blossom),” is made up of: knots ‘나무-꽃(tree-{bloom})’, a postposition ‘가-을(the)’, an seconde in order predication ‘활짝(full)’, and a best predication part ‘피웠다(was blossom)’. It is possible to think that the knots ‘tree-{bloom}’ form a master-servant relationship, as a tree(a line of latitude) is a main agent of flowering, while a blossom(a line of longitude) is a subject. Each knot is joined and explained by a linking verb ‘was’ with the other predication part ‘in full blossom’. Predication, in general, is the act of connecting each knot with predicates, not just of adding a predication part to a subject. This is a new approach which interprets the structure, direction and function of predication from a new viewpoint. Predication would be ‘a predication’ only when it reveals and shows the knot as it is. The principle of predication, for this reason, can be reducible to ‘revealing and showing’. Here a principle refers to ‘the ultimate answer’ to ‘why’ questions, which later becomes a ground and foundation of our knowledge as well as potential changes. ‘Revealing’ makes something hidden(here it means the knots) shown, and ‘showing’ determines the right predicates for the revealed ones. That is, ‘revealing and showing’ has a significance in that it not only helps us to experience knots, but also provides proper explanations or answers for the knot.
