The purpose of this essay is to evaluate a people movement of the South Korea in contemporary neo-liberalism and globalization. The term “people” in the Korea Peninsula had been used against the term “nation.” A divided structure of Korea Peninsula yielded ‘nationalistic state authority’ in the South and North Korea. In the nationalism, ‘nation’ has replaced ‘a citizen’ as a member of society. Hence from the very beginning, a "people movement" in the South Korea had to do struggle against a "despotic state" and it has awakened people to a historical subject. But it has given rise to an illusion that we are homogeneous as well. It is formed to motto of 1980’s people movement such as ‘nation, democracy, people.’ But along with a development of capitalism of the South Korea, the homogeneity take to pieces. After the May 10 Democratic Uprising, a ‘labour movement’ set itself up, then a ‘citizen’s campaign’ grew up to be a main power bloc in the South Korea in 90’s. But the ruling class in the South Korea won a ‘citizen’s campaign’ round by ‘passive revolution from above.’ It took in part of the ruling class’s hegemony. A diversity of movement is consequent on a development of capitalism of the South Korea. Besides, a mass’s desire changed from ‘production-need’ to ‘consume-enjoyment’ with coming of consuming society. Thus a "people movement" in the South Korea dismantled. In spite of such a dismantlement, contemporary neo-liberalism and globalization give rise to ‘lack’, an inclination of a massive poverty, the gap between rich and poor. For that reason, this essay seek for today’s worth in that a people movement of the South Korea based on ‘production.’ Simultaneously, We ought to give up an illusion such as we are one that a people movement of the South Korea carried. Today, it is inevitable that a resistance movement differentiate to a multiple social movement and multi-layer labour movement. Therefore it is necessary to articulate a difference of multiple antagonism which a contradiction of capital/work for wages produce and establish the solidarity between a social movement and labour class movement. Being based on ‘Commune’ which play a non-regime, self-formation, they have to establish the hegemony of ‘anti-capital’ against capitalist.
