Most of the research is that the analysis of the written verdicts was conducted to obtain preventive measures of collision between fishing vessel and non-fishing vessel. This study attempted to present the monthly density distribution of the offshore trap for the prevention in the East Sea. Collision accident occurrence rate of offshore trap was 10.6%, and especially the risk rates were severely high. This study was conducted using the transmitting device of fishing location data for 1 year in 2014. The grid intervals are 30 minute × 30 minute (latitude × longitude) based on the section of the sea. A total of 30 sections were analyzed by constructing a grid. The results revealed that the largest number of offshore traps per day were 12 vessels in no. 76 section of the sea, followed by 9 vessels in no. 77 section of the sea. Most of the offshore traps are operating out of the main channel of merchant ships. Merchant vessels sailing in the direction of Russia or the Americas should sail with caution, as they are expected to encounter a collision with an offshore trap in the vicinity of no. 83 and no. 88 sections of the sea between April and July.
