자동차의 가혹한 운전조건하에서 사용되는 기어오일의 경우 시져(소부:seizure)에 잘 견디고 내구성을 증가시키기 위하여 여러 가지 첨가제들을 사용한다. 본 논문에서는 자동차 기어오일에 MoS₂ 를 첨가하고， 펠렉스 마찰 마모 시험기를 사용하여 마찰마모 특성을 고찰하였다. 실험결과 MoS₂ 의 함유량이 2.5~5wt.%일 때 마찰 마모특성이 가장 우수하였다.
