Green retrofit plays an important role to achieve greenhouse gas mitigation in the field of building stocks. Especially green retrofit projects for public buildings could lead the way of green retrofit to private sectors supported by the Best Practice cases. However, there were not a lot of green retrofit projects for public buildings in Korea, and researches which related in energy saving effects and building value improvement by green retrofit. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to investigate green retrofit projects for public buildings and study on green retrofit effects and value assessment of the Seoul Customs #2 Building project as a case study.
The green retrofit of the Seoul Customs #2 Building was estimated 31.5% of energy saving but actual energy saving do not match the estimate according to insufficient data and monitoring periods. However, the building value is assessed 69.2% of improvement by the only green retrofit through the cost-value method which reflects the characteristics of public buildings.
