The purpose of this study is to find out the priorities for the improvement of safety consciousness by testing the hypothesis for Christian Children and Woman that “the social capital for living safety will be sufficient to build a safe social environment”
The results of this study are as follows.
First, the perceived level of life safety of the subjects was 2.22~3.59 on the scale of 5 points. Especially, the mean of the necessity of change for citizens’ safety consciousness was 3.83, which implies the relatively direct effort for this is required.
Second, the mean on the scale of 5 points of perception of the solutions to secure the safety of living is at least 4.11, It was found that the necessity of living safety correspondences was very high.
Third, the relatively important factors affecting the improvement of the perception of living safety are ‘nighttime apartment complex safety’, ‘nighttime underground parking lot safety’, ‘daytime school surroundings safety’, ‘daytime public toilet safety’, and the result showed that the explanatory power was 34.5% (R²=.345).
Therefore, it is understood that the efforts of grassroots movement and village community culture movement based on volunteerism of local residents are important to secure the living safety of local residents. For this, an approach to relate from simple and concrete to complex and abstract, from easy to difficult, from near to far, from part to whole, should be established.
