After repeated cases sexual victimization in the subway and other public transportation, the thought of and academic curiosity about the reason for victimization has aroused and inspired me to conduct quantitative research on factors of sex crime victimization in subway. This study aims to examine the Routine Activity Theory and identify factors of victimization which include: the frequency of subway use and of accompanying someone. Those factors are considered moderate behaviors, not acts that are considered as ‘delinquent’ behaviors. This signals that the prevalent victim blaming is not appropriate based on the outcome of the quantitative study. In this paper, the type and characteristics of sex crime in subway is introduced and the implication of the study will be discussed in terms of a rebuttal on victim blaming.
