Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the pain of the thumb, due to the use of a mobile phone. Background: The increase of the penetration and usage rate of the mobile phones occur a lot of the pain by the overuse of the thumb. A lot of the abduction and extension of the thumb cause De Quervain"s tenosynovitis(the sprain and inflammation of the thumb abductor and extensor tendon). Method: To target the 100 university students of Gwangju city, carried out Finkelstein’s test and surveyed the mobile phone addiction scale, the posture of the mobile phone using. Results: The text message (87.0%), internet (57.0%) was the order in mobile phone use. In addition, the 2nd problem due to using mobile phone was bad influence to the study(42.0%), health problems(28.0%) the order. One hand fixed, and the use of the thumb of the fixed hand was the Finkelstein"s test positive. Conclusion: It can be seen the overuse of the mobile phone was the cause of the De Quervain"s disease occurrence.
