This study deals with the ‘NP i/ka(postposition)’ phrases preceding some transitive verbs in the ‘ kosipt’ta’ construction. Even though this element originally should be treated as an object of a main verb, an ‘i/ka’ PP can appear in order to primarily express a subject form. For this reason, many studies have regarded it as a subject coming out through the case alternation or from the multi argument structures of ‘sipt’a’. However, these studies haven’t efficiently explained the reasons for the ‘i/ka’ PP appearance. One of the reasons is that this phenomenon does not occur obligatorily. Moreover, ‘i/ka’ PP does not have any characteristics of a subject. Therefore, it seems reasonable to argue that ‘i/ka’ PP should be treated as an object of a main verb, and that ‘i/ka’ is not a subject case marker but a postposition marking some specific meaning.
