This study was conducted to provide preliminary data for achieving the well-balanced growth by investigating the effect of after-school jazz dance activity on exercise capacity(muscle endurance, cardiopulmonary endurance, flexibility, and %Body fat) in middle-school girls. We had recruited 30 G-city middleschool girls(at the age of 15) who had divided into two groups: experimental group(n=15) and control group(n=15). And experimental group had done jazz dance 3 days/week, 50 minutes/day, for 8 weeks. Warming up and cooling down, including stretching, took 10 minutes, respectively, and real exercise took 30 minutes with the exercise intensity of HRmax 50-60%. The data was analyzed by using SPSS 18.0. The results are as follows. The change of physique was not significant between measurement and groups. For exercise capacity, muscle endurance(p<.001), cardiopulmonary endurance(p<.001), flexibility(p<.01), and speed(p<.001) showed the significant change between measurement in experimental group. In addition, muscle endurance (p<.05), cardiopulmonary endurance(p<.05), and flexibility(p<.01) showed the significant change between groups. Therefore, we found the positive effect of 8-week after-school jazz dance activity on exercise capacity of middle-school girls.
