The purpose of this study was to develop a movement creativity test geared toward children who weren`t yet used to reading and writing. The subjects in this study were 109 children who were at the ages of 5, 6 and 7 and attended four different kindergartens in Seoul and Gyeonggi province. The findings of the study were as follows: 1. Earlier studies were analyzed to find out what components of creativity were commonly included in creativity tests. As a result, fluency, flexibility, imagination and originality were selected as the components of creativity. Five factors that included weight, space, time, flow and body awareness were selected as the basic elements of movement. Out of the five, the first four were emphasized by Laban, and the fifth one was stressed by Day(1994). Movement creativity, one of movements imagined by humans, consisted of three subfactors including fluency, imagination and expressiveness and focused on thinking faculty. Physical creativity focused on the movement of the body and were constituted by flexibility, originality and direction. 2. Among fluency, imagination and expressiveness, the subfactors of movement creativity, fluency that refers to the number of divergent thinking was designed to be assessed on a five-point scale after analyzing the data about 109 children. Imagination and expressiveness refer to an ability to express what one has imagined. Specifically, imagination means how much one is good at imagining, and expressiveness means to what extent one is good at representing what he or she has imagined through his or her body. Like fluency, imagnation and expressiveness were both designed to be evaluated at a five-point scale based on the data about 109 children. Fluency is assessed in an objective manner, whereas imagnation and expressiveness are evaluated in a subjective way.
