The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of functional exercise program on extension strength and stability by investigating changes of angles of lumbar extension strength, pressure distribution, fall and stability index. The subjects who took part in the group consist of 26 degenerative disc patients. For this study, the functional exercise program of lumbar was provides for 8 weeks, 2 times a weeks, and 90 minutes each session. The statistical analysis was done using paired t-test with PASW program (ver. 18.0), and statistical significance was set at the level of p<.05. The results were as follows; 1) the angle of the lumbar extension strength post-exercise than pre-exercise was increased. In particular, the degenerative disc in all seven at an angles showed statistical significance. 2) the changes of pressure distribution have an influenced stable pressure distribution after the functional exercise program, but have not shown statistical significance. In the weight distribution index to change have an influenced statistically significance, and showed stability secure to help. 3) In the fall and stabilize the ability to change, weight distribution and stability index have not shown statistical significance, but the fall index had shown statistical significance. The functional exercise program for extension strength and stability of lumbar have an influenced positive the improve to muscle function and to a decreased pain activity ability, including of daily living in degenerative disc patients.
