The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of participation in a combined exercise program on the functional fitness in the elderly women. Total of 18 female participants whose age were over 65 years old were selected and divided into one of two groups (experimental vs. control). The exercise program consisted of warm-up, seniorobics, elastic band exercise, and cool-down. The program was provided for 12 weeks, 3 times a week, and 50 minutes each session. Five test items from the Senior Fitness Test (Rikli & Jones, 1999) and one-foot stand were selected and administered before and after a 12-week combined exercise program. The multiple uses of paired t-test were performed for data analyses. Results revealed that there were statistically significant differences in all dependent variables but balance before and after the program. It is concluded that a combined exercise program may have positive impact on the functional fitness levels of elderly women, especially aerobic endurance, upper- and lower-body strength, as well as flexibility.
