The purpose of this study was to examines the effect of taekwondo training on Whole Body Mineral Density(Arm, Leg, Pelvis, BMC, BMD) and Cardiovascular Disease Factor(b-aPWV, ABI) of female college students. The subjects of this study were taekwondo trained group(n = 10) and untrained group(n = 10). All subjects were involved in each test. The Body Mineral Density(BMD) was measured by DEXA(PRODIGY, U.S.A). The b-a PWV(brachial-ankle Pulse Wave Velocity) and ABI(Ankle-Brachial Pressure Index) was measured by Colin Pulse Waveform Analyzer(VP-1000, Colin, Japan). The result was as follows. The Whole Body Mineral Density were showed taekwondo trained group significantly higher than taekwondo untrained group. In particular, Local Body Mineral Density of high level were Leg, Pelvis and Total BMD. The b-aPWV (branchial-ankle Pulse Wave Velocity) were showed taekwondo trained group significantly lower than taekwondo untrained group. The ABI(Ankle-Brachial Pressure Index) weren`t difference between taekwondo trained and untrained. In conclusion, the results of this study demonstrate that Whole Body Mineral Density and Cardiovascular Disease Factor(b-aPWV, ABI) were positive effect by long-term taekwondo training.
