The purpose of this study was to find the effect of aquatic rehabilitation exercise on people with cerebral palsy in upright standing to provide basic data to the people with cerebral palsy`s rehabilitation exercise. The writer chose 5 children with spastic cerebral palsy for this study and they performed aquatic rehabilitation exercises for 9 weeks, 2 times a week for 45 minutes a time. It was measured the change of upright standing posture of the children before and after aquatic rehabilitation exercises by using an infrared 3D Motion Analysis system. The results of this study were as follows. In the upright standing posture, the joint angles of cervical spines, thoracic & lumber spine, upper limbs, lower limbs showed closer alignment to center of gravity (COG). It was true that approach of neuro development treatment exercise therapy for people with cerebral palsy`s movement has been developed. However, compare to the long period of exercise therapy on ground, the fact that people with cerebral palsy showed many changes in their upright standing postural control relatively short periods of aquatic rehabilitation exercise can be inferred that aquatic rehabilitation exercise can be much helpful for people with cerebral palsy`s motor development. Therefore, I believe that this aquatic rehabilitation exercise will help the children with cerebral palsy to rehabilitate by improving their exercise performance ability if we actively apply this aquatic rehabilitation exercise instead of being skeptical about this exercise.
