The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in blood lipids and LDH before and after soccer game. In this study, five professional players, eleven university players, and eleven club members participated in the test of measuring and comparing at rest serum total cholesterol (TC), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDLC), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDLC), total cholesterol/high density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (TC/HDLC ratio), triglycerides (TG) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activities. In the professional players case, the same items were measured after the soccer game. The results of the study were summarized as follows: 1. Of the three gorups, club members showed significantly lower TCH and LDLC (p<0.05) compared to the others at rest. After the professional players played the game, their TCH and LDLC showed small increase, but there was not significant for statistical data. 2. Of the three groups, there were no significant differences in HDLC and TCH/HDLC ratio at rest. After the professional players played the game, their HDLC and TCH/HDLC ratiio increase slightly but not significantly. 3. Of the three groups, club members showed significantly higher TG (p<0.05) compared to the others at rest. After the professional players played the game, their TG showed small increase, but there was no significant difference. 4. Of the three groups, professional players showed significantly higher (p<0.05) LDH activities compared to the others at rest and LDH activities are also increased significantly (p<0.05) after the game. High level of plasma LDH in soccer professional players is caused by leakage from damaged muscle fibers. Thus, long duration exercise and/or involving eccentric contractions leads to the elevation of LDH.
