Community policing is a collaborative effort between the police and the community that identifies problems of crime and disorder and involves all elements of the community in the search for solutions to local safety problems. It is founded on close, mutually beneficial ties between police and community members. At the core of successful community policing are community engagement and lasting partnerships.
This paper seeks to present the results of a critical analysis of major issues surrounding the ongoing debate on performance evaluation of Local Policing Cooperation Committee in South Korea.
The purpose of this study is to explore the performance evaluation model of Local Policing Cooperation Committee in South Korea. After a brief review of the theory of community safety partnership and current practice, a set of important issues was reviewed and analyzed through a comparative perspective. Concretely, the comparative analysis involves Local Safety Partnership formed by the Crime and Disorder Act in England and Local Security Contract in France.
Finally, Specific policy recommendations were suggested about the performance assessment and operational improvement of Local Policing Cooperation Committee for improving multi-agency partnership network and successful community policing cooperation.
