X-ray image processing is required for inspection of a mechanical assembly. In this paper, the exponential filter algorithm is adopted for a feature detection of X-ray image processing. It is well-known that strength of X-ray decays exponentially according to depth of an object. The feature detection algorithm by the exponential filter is based on the decay characteristic of X-ray. It is shown that performance of the exponential filter is better than the conventional feature detection filter e.g., Laplacian of Gaussian filter in terms of feature detection on X-ray image.
