Recent advancements in some critically important and some key technology initiated robotic industries have opened up to a new horizon for a large number of inter-related application paradigms. They collectively in turn promise to influence our lifestyle significantly in the next few decades to come. To describe these technologies and discuss the key enabling factors for making such advancements become a reality, we examined recent research and advanced developments. We present this review paper where, following some brief definitions and historical developments, we draw the attention of viewers towards two essential aspects of ‘robotic intelligence’ and new style ‘deployment platforms’. In doing this we have also introduced four new terms for the communities: zrobot for dummy robots, arobot for autonomous robots, irobot for risk-free intelligent robots, and srobots for superior expert robots to work remotely and independently.
