As the existing urban residental districts have become deteriorated and degraded seriously, the government has been pushing forward a housing environment improvement project. Moreover, in order to improve national health and residential environments, the Ministry of Environment has been proceeding a nationwide, large-scale roof improvement support project to demolish and dispose of slate since 2012. Therefore, Daegu Metropolitan City has enforced a roof improvement support project on the houses near Line 3 of the urban railway, which is sensitive to distant landscape because of the distinct characteristic of an on-the-ground train.
Based on the analysis into the present condition of the areas near Line 3 of Daegu Urban Railway before and after the roof improvement support project, this research aims at examining the current situation of the support project on each household, the methods to improve the roofs, and the problems of the impacts of the changes in the roof colors for urban landscape on residential environments, and proposing how to enhance the roof improvement support project near Line 3 of Daegu Urban Railway.
