This study examines pre-service elementary teachers' perceptions on integrating culture education into English education to foster intercultural communicative competence. Fourteen English Education major students' written reflections at the end of a related course were analyzed in order to investigate pre-course and post-course perceptions about intercultural communicative competence and culture education in the context of elementary English education. The results of the study show that before the course the pre-service teachers typically were unaware of the concepts of intercultural communicative competence and English as a global language. In addition, the pre-service teachers' interest and knowledge in integrating culture education into English education were limited. The study also reports that their perceptions changed through the course. As a result, they took the views that integrating culture education into Elementary education was not only conducive to developing intercultural communicative competence but also to providing interesting and fun activities which will also foster language development. The study further discusses the pre-service teachers' concerns about obstacles to implementing culture education into English classes.
