The purpose of this study is to develop a new elective course for English grammar specifically designed for the future elementary school teachers, based on student needs analyses. The results show that most students want to improve their English oral proficiency as well as their teaching skills. Thus we have chosen a task-based learning model integrated with a grammatical syllabus, which could provide more speaking and writing opportunities for the participants while letting them do some intelligent tasks every class by themselves through group works or pair-works. For this new student-centered model, explicit instruction about context and discourse will be added to meet their needs. They may learn to use a variety of communicative strategies to solve their tasks and their English will also be improved.
