Sustainability has become the concern of the global community. There have been increasing efforts to mobilize education for sustainable future. To this end, concerted efforts of all areas of education are called for to bring up the level of global citizens' awareness about, skills for, and participation in environmental protection. This study joins the efforts and provides an example of combining elementary school English curriculum with environmental education, an essential part of education for sustainability. More specifically, it lays out the history and rationales for connecting education for sustainability and ESL education. Then, it focuses on the integration of environmental education and ESL education. It proposes elementary ESL education work for education for sustainability. It then presents an example of the two coming together by proposing environmental ethics suitable for integrating into the units in the textbooks containing the 7th National Curriculum. Further studies are needed to develop materials and activities that would actually foster language learning as well as environmental education for and participation in shaping more sustainable futures.
