‘An immortal or perfect love’ is one of the most common themes in literature. Lover’s perfect love has been the most frequent literary discourse in the eastern and western worlds. Most poets have presented lover’s love through the use of many symbols in literature. ‘Woman’s hair’ would be especially the symbol of perfect love in literature. There were ‘the shoes’ woven by hair and the love letter to be sent to her husband in the grave in Andong, Korea. The writer of the letter was ‘Wonei’s mother and she wrote her dead husband the love letter to express her love. The shoes woven with her hair must be the evidence of the immortal love and the symbol of their perfect love. John Donne was one of the metaphysical poets in the seventeenth century. His poems, “The Funeral” and “The Relic”, were used to express the lover’s immortal love with the woman’s hair. The woman’s hair to be given to her lover must be the evidence and mystery of their love. Korean woman’s hair and lover’s hair in Donne’s poems have a common symbol; perfect and immortal love despite of the geographical difference.
