Objective: The aim of this report is to improve the training environment and educate the touch screen facility that plant operators sometimes make mistakes. Background: Since 2007, the number of the digital facilities such as Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), Digital Control Computer (DCC) has increased in domestic nuclear power plants. Accordingly, problems on the digital facilities also have increased. Plant transients related to touch screen facility has occurred twice since installation in domestic nuclear power plants. Method: To prevent similar problems with touch screen facility, a review report was written to unveil the failure causes, operating principles, and corrective actions. For this purpose, more than 10 experience reports were analyzed including the touch screen facility incident report of Yonggwang nuclear power plant unit 5. Results: The plant transient problems related to touch screen facility implied the immature manipulations due to short in understanding of operators for the facility. Conclusion: The training environment for operators performing manipulations related to touch screen facility must be fully established. And, the systematic life-cycle maintenance program for the touch screen facility is required. Application: A reliability of the touch screen facility is an important element for ensuring the operational safety of a nuclear power plant. The review report and training material were disseminated to the nuclear power plants, and were utilized.
