This is a study regarding the development of sewing craft-works and the objective of this study is in developing unique craft works which combine traditional Korean images with modern feel by mainly studying the various patterns in the mural paintings of Koguryo tombs in the Gyp-an(集安) region. The contents and results of this study were as follows : First, the contents of the murals of the Gyp-an(集安) region include depictions of daily life and human in the Gakjuh-chong, Mooyong-chong and Jangchun 1, and depictions of daily life and human along with the four-directional gods in the Samshil-chong and depictions of the four-directional gods in Oh-hwe tomb No.4 and No.5 the designs of the murals have the potential to provide infinite motifs for modern patterns. Second, the murals of the tombs in the Gyp-an(集安) region were analyzed by tomb, the patterns of the Koguryo that are suitable for use in modern design and announce cultures of Koguryo were selected and drew. Third, after design plans were made for each sewing craft, natural dyes were used to dye the fabrics by theme. Approximately 26 pieces of sewing crafts that can be used in daily life were created using patterns from the Koguryo murals, including bags, coin purses, card cases, spectacles cases, pouches, runners & mats, cushions and scarves.
