This research is to contemplate the meaning formation process and the meaning in the serial novel ≪An Introduction to Sociology of Language≫(언어사회학서설), focused on searching technique and grating structure known as the technique characteristics of Yi, Cheongjun`s novels. ≪An Introduction to Sociology of Language≫ is a serial novel. <Domination and Freedom>(지배와 해방) and <The Reborn Words>(다시 태어나는 말) in the serial novel have attracted attention from researchers. <Domination and Freedom> has received attention in the aspects of the novel theory and the author theory. The Reborn Words has been an object of study as a final volume of ≪Namdo Saram≫(남도사람) and ≪An Introduction to Sociology of Language≫. The individual works in a serial novel should be studied by the allness among serial works. Because when ≪An Introduction to Sociology of Language≫ is analyzed as serial works, the meanings of individual works are integrated as a whole, and the process of meaning formation can be figured out. The inquiry for words in ≪An Introduction to Sociology of Language≫ is a trial of attitude to the life of Yi, Cheongjun`s own and the attitude and method of writing as an author. Thus, the inquiry for words is very important in understanding the literary works as well as the author himself. Yi, Cheongjun tries to harmonize the life of existence and the life of relation through Yun, Jiwook, principal inquiry agent of ≪An Introduction to Sociology of Language≫. The harmony of the two lives is equivalent to the language of existence and the language order of relationship. Through ≪An Introduction to Sociology of Language≫, the real freedom of words is investigated. The real freedom of words should exist on the order of creation which can realize, keep, and expand the lives of ours and the real value of humanity.
