This thesis is about Garden(Cabin) Poetry researched by post mid poet SongZhiWen(宋之问) who lived in Tang Dynasty. SongZhiWen worked on his pieces frequently at Lantian(蓝田) cabin which is near Ruhun(陆浑)cabinl and ChangAn(长安) located inside of LuoYang(洛阳). As a garden bureaucrat, owning particular hermitage to do public services gave huge influence to the future writers. Writer owning a garden to prepare retirement and doing work activity in a nature friendly environment brought culture of overcoming challenge of oneself.
Lastly, SongZhiWen’s Temple Garden poetry(寺观园林诗) was poet mostly at relegated area compare to SongZhiWen used his affair leisure time to visit the temple for mind relaxation and retire himself inside the nature.
The “Scholar Garden Poetry” written by SongZhiWen in the mid Tang Dynasty triggered and opened up an important transitional period for scholars to study about the grove which later became a significant scholarly environment. SongZhiWen have well described the scenery of the grove from his own cabin. In addition, the experience of him living in the rural environment actually inspired WangWei(王维) to compose the rural landscape poetry during the mid Tang Dynasty period. Such literatures during the mid Tang Dynasty had direct impact on the scholars such as BaiJuYi(白居易) to their work of literatures in ZhongTang(中唐) period. Baijuyi and other scholars cultivated and managed their own groves, and these cultural activities established scholars to fully understand the discipline on groves.
