Objective: This study is to find the comfort temperature condition based on the observed correlation between the temperature control for individual chair applied air conditioning and the comfort of the human body under the room temperature being steady state. Background: For a multi-use facilities, such as theaters, the energy is wasted seriously. Because, to maintain an appropriate room temperature based on Energy Use Rationalization Act, regardless of the number of users. In order to reduce the energy of a multi-use facility, the individual chair applied air conditioning systems are more efficient than full air conditioning system. However, according to the temperature change of the individual chair applied air conditioning system, few studies have been done on the effects of energy saving and Comfort of human body.
Method: The subjects were composed of 30 males and females in their twenties, keeping the room temperature was 28°C, temperature of the individual chair applied air conditioning systems was set at 22°C, 25°C and control. And the test procedure was (1) the 1st thermal sensation vote was filled (2min). (2) Rest (3min). (3) Stimulus of a video (15min). (4) Rest (3min). (5) The 2st thermal sensation vote was filed (2min). To measure the comfort for human, the EEG test was performed. The international 10–20 system electrode placement was used and the EEG was recorded by means of a 16-channel EEG signals. To analysis the EEG, frontopolar 4 channel was used. The data was extracted for 2min after 7 min from the start of the stimulus of video. Results: As a result of analyzing the relative a power value ratio at each temperature(22°C, 25°C and control), there was a significant difference (p<0.05) when the temperature of the individual chair applied air conditioning systems was at 25°C. Conclusion: Finally, although room temperature is 28°C, using a the individual chair applied air conditioning systems in Multi-use facilities can be maintain the comfort of human body without unnecessary energy waste. Application: If the result of this study may be applied to the temperature control method of a multi-use facility, the energy savings are expected significantly.
