There have been peculiar environmental issues in big cities like air pollution and the Urban Heat Island Effect due to high-density of development within restricted area. Besides, residential areas in cities are facing with poor environment because of lack of understanding peculiar environmental characteristics in the region. The study proposes a concept of "wind corridor" in order to improve this poor environment such as air pollution and the urban heat island effect in residential areas. To improve the environment in residential areas by utilizing wind road, establishment of long-term land use plan and regulation of building height and arrangement should be performed along with a full understanding of status of regional wind. In addition, the status of wind, which reflected the regional characteristics, is expected to increase the trustworthiness of simulation in constructing database of wind road through simulation as there is a constant difficulty of checking the wind environment throughout overall city. Accordingly, the study analyzed the status of regional wind by installing automatic weather system within the various residential areas in Daegu which is well known for big city in Korea and heat waves during summer time.
