This study grasped and analyzed visual expression of types and method of new materials by targeting new materials that can be applied to housing space. The results are as follows. First, in order to design individual and unique housing space, design new materials are used as finishing materials that play and important role in the visual expression. Second, visual expression types of new materials through the precedent studies on the visual expression method and characteristics were classified as ‘flat expression’, ‘three-dimensional expression’ and ‘dynamic expression’. Third, flat expression appeared image effects through patterning and imaging, three-dimensional expression appeared 3D effects through fragmentation and form, and dynamic expression appeared movement effects through color change and pattern change. The researcher will grasp detailed visual expression method through additional research on new materials that can be applied to house spacing based on this study. These data are expected to be use as basic reference to apply new materials when designing differentiated and emotional housing space in future.
