BIM technology has been actively adopted in AEC industry. Since BIM software generates three dimensional geometric shape and parametric building information, application programs with BIM have been developed to use the information from many fields of AEC industry. IFC data structures only provide a mechanism to transfer and share the building information. In order to transfer specific building information which is needed for specific applications, IDM and MVD method was developed by buildingSMART International. Both methods, IDM and MVD, have been developed to support the integrated methodology from understanding the business processed to be supported by Open-BIM, to ready and interoperable software solutions that enable open access to building information models. This research mainly focused on a case study and methodology development on Open-BIM based IDM for housing design. We introduced IDM and MVD methodology of buildingSMART international Standard. In addition, we defined case studies of IDM and MVD to AEC Industry. This study provides a case study enabling building information transfer by using IDM/MVD method.
