Domestic housing paradigm has changed from quantitative growth to qualitative growth, and demands for pleasant living environment and meeting basic living conditions have increased due to a rise in living standards of the people. As for existing apartment houses of wall-type structure, technology development for repair and renovation resulting from housing deterioration has not actively been made, and they pose several limitations since there are no sufficient construction technology and design with which change in spatial configuration is possible. In this vein, discussions about long-life housing got started as an alternative to overcome the limitations of the existing apartment houses. In an academic circle, the research on the technologies that can contribute to long lifespan of housing is under progress, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport introduced “long-life housing construction standards” in the Article 21 paragraph 6 of the Housing Act through a revision of the Housing Act in December 2014. In this regard, this study aims to identify factors affecting the consumers’ perception on long-life housing that has been proposed as a new alternative, and to present basic data for activation of long-life housing by conducting a survey on long-life housing certification systems.
