Sharing a residence has increased concern with the change in household types. The increase in the elderly living alone has economic problems and social isolation issues. To solve this problem, the Seoul City Government has introduced the Home Sharing Project in 2012. This study will look at the Home Sharing of the elderly and undergraduate students, an unrelated relationship. The method of the study was based on the documents shown on Seoul City’s website. In addition, this study has added interviews of participants by utilizing the Internet portal Naver/News and welfare officials personally interviewing. The results of this study are as follows. First, while the concept of the family was expanded, the social family appeared to replace the role of the family. Second, to activate the Home Sharing Project, participants are required to understand about the sharing a residence. In addition, the environmental factor of each autonomous district appears to be affecting the Home Sharing Project. Third, participants involved in the Home Sharing Project were shown as performing care, education, economic support, emotional support and the role of protection. This study will be the basic material for developing residential sharing schemes for the different future generations.
