The purpose of the study was to propose modular apartments with optional unit plan for such households based on the above. Through a case analysis of modular houses in Korea and overseas, this study reviewed various designs and characteristics for single or two-person households and whether it is possible to implement the optional unit plan, thereby developing modular homes with optional unit plan for single or two-person households.
The key findings of the case analysis were that the module size must follow the limitations of road width in Korea as well as height of pedestrian overpasses and high-level roads, and that most cases adopted the construction method of continuous lamination in the form of box units. The exterior design was quite standardized.
Based on such results, this study proposed apartments for single or two-person households by applying modular architecture to optional unit plan houses.
