The “9073” Pension Service Mode represents that about 90% of the elderly will require the home-based care. However, the current room environment is not sufficiently elderly-oriented, with no deep understanding of the inner world of the elderly and no care for their psychological needs. Based on the psychology of aging and focusing on the presentation and nature of psychological changes of the elderly, this article suggests that elements such as life experience, happy memory, interests and hobbies be integrated into the design of living rooms for the elderly so as to help the elderly to retrieve their self confidence, gain respect both from their families and social communications, and reflects the psychological care brought by design to the elderly.
