This paper intends to analyze an internal structure of Spanish absolute constructions(AC, henceforth) and its derivational process. In Spanish ACs, an independent predication relation is established between the predicate and its subject apart from main clause`s one and interpreted as an peripheral adverbial clause. Although the predicates, such as gerund, participle and adjective, don`t have finite form, ACs have nominative subjects. In this paper, I suggest that ACs would be projected to TP in that these constructions could have their own temporal elements and the T head should move to C following to T-to C movement proposed by Pesetsky & Torrego(2001), forming CP. For an derivational process of ACs, I propose that ACs would be derived in a separate derivational domain from the main clause`s one and merged into Spec-Top of main clause. I argue the derivational relations of AC with wh-interrogatives, topic, focus and adverbials to support my analysis.
