The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of the 12 week's stretching and??resistance exercise program on physical strength and posture stability in juveniles. A quasi-experimental study design was??applied. A total of 37 subjects (males:8, females:29) were recruited from a middled school in the Y-gun, Gyeonggi -do. The subjects were divided into two groups: training group(n:24) and control group(n:13). The exercise program??was conducted for a period of 12 weeks(3 times a week, 45 minutes, RPE 11-13). Data were analyzed with the??SPSS window via independent t-test and two-way ANOVA with repeated measures. In results, the training group??showed a significant improvement for all in the lung capacity(p<.01), flexibility(p<.01), back muscle strength(p<.01),??instantaneous reactionary force(p<.01), muscle endurance(p<.01) and agility(p<.01). Also, the control group??showed an improvement in the flexibility(p<.01), back muscle strength(p<.01) and agility(p<.01). For postural stability,??the training group(RSB: p<.05, LSB: p<.01) showed a significant improvement in the function of controlling postures,??however the control group did not show any differences. In conclusions, a 12 week's exercise program was found??to be beneficial in improving the physical strength and posture control function in juveniles.
