The purpose of this study is to compare the level of realization of the education of Korean language history among 16 highschool textbooks based on 2007 Korean Language Arts` Curriculum(KLAC), and to find implications for the future direction of textbook revision works. Comparison was made in two aspects; a series of KLAC and textbook contents. The analysis of KLAC suggests that the boundary and contents of the knowledge of Korean language history appears to be too much extended. The analysis also suggests that it would be better to educate the history of Korean language together with Korean classical literature in several chapters, not in an intensive single chapter. The analysis of textbook is composed of two aspects; (1) the goals and contents of 2007 KLAC and (2) the structure and contents of textbook. In the analysis to some extent, textbooks failed to reflect the goals of 2007 KLAC sufficiently, partly because of limited space to accommodate all the demands and necessities. There also found some problems in the structure and contents of textbooks; lack of consistency in educational goals, texts, activities, and knowledge in some parts, and some improper uses of texts and incorrect contents are found. KLAC and text books are interdependent and complimentary. A series of revision of KLAC and textbooks are required for a better and effective education of Korean language, particularly the history of Korean language.
