This study analyzed the vowel length of native compound words in the Keun Dictionary and resulted in the following findings about the vowel length of native compound words in that period: First, the percentage of a vowel length appearing in the first syllable in compound words was the highest at 40.6%, but the percentage of suffix derivative and compound words with a vowel length in the second or lower syllable was high, too. Second, the suffix derivative words whose roots have a vowel length maintain a vowel length even in the second or lower syllable. Third, ``-대:다, -하다, and -이/히`` account for 93.2% of suffix derivative words. ``-대:다`` has a lexical vowel length, on the other hand, ``-하다`` and ``-이/히`` tends to be interpreted to have an expressive vowel length except for cases in which a root has a fixed vowel length. Fourth, the percentage of a vowel length appearing in the first syllable in complex words was the highest at 61.1%. There were also many cases in which a vowel length was reflected in the second or lower syllable in complex words. Finally, compound words containing a root of ``말:`` either maintained a vowel length in a non-initial part like ``겉-말`` and ``낱:말:`` or had a vowel length disappear in a non-initial pan like ``막-말`` and 표준-말``. The distribution of vowel length in compound words in the Keun Dictionary can be generalized as ``X:-Y``, ``X-Y:``, and ``X-Y:.`` Compared to the current vowel length pattern in compound words where ``X:-Y`` dominates, they had a big percentage of ``X-Y:`` and ``X:-Y:``. ``X-Y:`` and ``X:-Y:`` arc bard to find today as a result of a linguistic change from long syllable to short syllable in a non-word initial position.
