This study set out to analyze the process of dance majors perceiving their body images by applying the grounded theory method and investigating the effects of their perceived body images on their continuance of dance and career choice, thus proposing a theoretical framework for the perception of body image and career choice process. The study selected total 14 participants that graduated from college a couple of years ago, conducted an in-depth interview with them, and analyzed their responses. Their central phenomenon was a contemplation over whether they should continue to dance or not. The causal and contextual conditions of the situation were experiences with physical conditions-based discriminations and the physical conditions preferred in the dance community. The subjects tried to overcome their contemplation over whether to continue dance or not by having consultations with their professors, teachers, predecessors and parents and employed an interactive strategy of making efforts to change or re-perceive their body images and making preparations for another field after quitting dance. In the end, they either engaged in various occupations related to dance by growing out of the body image fixated in the dance community, developing a new perspective, and highlighting their advantages or moved to other fields from dance by discovering their talent and interest in them.
