The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of color combination(M/G, C/G, Y/G), tone(vivid, light, dark), dot pattern size(0.2, 0.5, 1), area-ratio(pattern/background, background/pattern) on image formation. Sets of stimulus and response scales(7 point semantic) were used as experimental materials. The stimuli were 54 color pictures manipulated with the combination of color combination, tone, dot pattern size and area-ratio using computer simulation. The subjects were 270 female undergraduates living in Gyeongsangnam-do. Image factor of the stimulus was composed of 4 different components, personality, attractiveness, gracefulness and gentleness. In the personality, color combination, tone, dot pattern size, area-ratio showed independent effect. In the attractiveness, color combination, dot pattern size, area-ratio showed independent effect. In the gracefulness, combination, tone, dot pattern size showed independent effect. In the gentleness, area-ratio showed independent effect. Significant interaction effects of color combination and tone on attractiveness and gentleness were found. Interaction effects of color combination and color and area-ratio on attractiveness and gracefulness were found. Interaction effects of tone and area-ratio was significant on gentleness. Dot pattern size and area-ratio was significant on gracefulness. For personality image, background/dots of 1cm were effective. For attractiveness and gracefulness image, cyan background/gray dots were effective. For gentleness image, light tone background/dots Area-ratio were effective.
