The boundary between practice and research is inherently vague. However this vagueness has potential of enriching the field of architecture. Examples of RMIT PhD program, FATALE of KTH Royal Institute of Technology, ARD of Yonsei University are some of the many examples of merging practice and research into the university curriculum. Finding various types of connection between practice and research and incorporating it into the university system will become increasingly important. Referring back to Christopher Fralying’s categorization of design research - research into design, research through design and research for design - provides another starting point of broadening the relationship between practice and research in architecture. By developing different type of design research, the field of architecture will be ample with many different professor figures and various researches.
