This paper deals with the Eucharistic meaning making process how the recipients signify the Eucharistic meal as the body and blood of Christ. This research aims at exploring the epistemological transformation process of the Eucharist meal (the bread and wine) into the symbol of the body and blood of Christ. For this research, both Charles Sanders Peirce`s semiotics and Graham Hughes Eucharistic theology, which present the meaning?making process especially for the non?textual signs, (symbol) are used as the research methodologies to explain the epistemological transformation progress of the Holy Communion meal as the symbol of the body and blood of Christ. In addition, I explore the Eucharistic theology of Edward Schillebeeckx who asserts a similar Eucharistic semiotic structure as an example to understand the symbolic transformation of the bread and wine. Then, I gave some practical suggestions for the ministers to preside more effective the Eucharist in the local churches. Finally, I summarize and conclude whole research in the last section.
