This study explores how the problems of the literary unity of Philippians and the place of Paul`s imprisonment are solved by means of J-F. Lyotard`s ``postmodern`` interpretation paradigm which is designed to overcome limits of modern historiography, modern theological logic, and modern hermeneutic principle. For this purpose, this study explores the recent issue of the unity of Philippians, whether it was composed all at once as a unified form, or it was originally written by editing three different fragments into unified form. From postmodern viewpoint, it is conceived that the major factor in solving the issue of the unity of Philippippians is the postmodern interpretation of the rule of ``language game`` formulated by the interrelating contract among the addressor, the addressee, and reference rather than the historical-critical reconstruction of the author Paul`s situation. Lyotard`s postmodern interpretation paradigm strongly encourages the dramatic upheaval of the new paradigm which was stimulated by the ``paralogy`` between ``narrative knowledge`` and ``scientific knowledge``. Following this suggestion, we can discover that both the fragments writing theory based upon historical-critical method and the unification writing theory based upon rhetorical critical method and genre criticism are not established by ``scientific knowledge`` of rigorous historical facts, but by ``narrative knowledge`` of the narrative situation between the addressor and the addressee which was, through the contracted rules of language game, reconstructed by the narrative of Philippians and Acts. In conclusion, we also propose new interpretation paradigm of determining the unity of Philippians, the date of writing Philippians, and the place of writing Philippians. According to this paradigm, it is likely that Paul created Ur-Philippians by editing three fragments just before he died, while his disciples reedited Ur-Philippians so that Philippians was apparently written at Rome.
